Dyslexia Video Delight – Showing “Headstrong: Hidden Nation” plus 2 shorts

Headstrong: Hidden Nation spotlights Ben Foss, an author, activist and entrepreneur.  Ben teaches how to turn shame into hope, helping people feel more connected and authentic. He is a co-founder of Integration Ventures, a venture capital firm that is looking to invest in dyslexic entrepreneurs. He has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fox Business News, ABC, CNN, HBO and the BBC.

Headstrong follows six very different adults into the hidden world of dyslexia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Discover the untold story of an Alabama civil rights hero who won an historic dyslexia discrimination lawsuit; share a teenager’s struggle in a California public school as he discloses his ADHD for the first time; and enter the remarkable life of a 44 year-old dyslexic single mother on welfare as she strives to graduate from a top university. Our narrator, Ben, is on his own journey to understand the dyslexia that has driven and frustrated him throughout his life. He takes us from Northern California to the deep South in search of the people and insights that will connect this unseen community.

Liz Miele: Dyslexia & Comedy –

Although Dyslexia can be scary and challenging, it can also turn into something amusing and fun for learning. In her discussion about living with dyslexia Liz benefits most from the use of maps and visual aids. She is also adamant about changing the way normal routines involving reading are done. She tells many stories where her dyslexia leads other people to believe she is being dishonest. Liz has not let the baggage of living with dyslexia in a judging world slow her down though. Her stories are often tempered with larger successes.
