This webinar, Multisensory Structured Literacy: Simple Routines to Reinforce Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Morphology, Syntax, and Comprehension, is presented by Andrew Stetkevich.

Research supports that students with dyslexia should be taught how to read and write through a multisensory structured language approach. This webinar will explore the essential components of this approach. Participants will learn simple routines and strategies to reinforce phonemic awareness and phonemic proficiency. The webinar will also detail phonics routines in the areas of sound/symbol identification, decoding, and the use of syllable types and syllable division to decode longer words. In addition, explicit strategies to address reading for meaning will be demonstrated by focusing on the components of morphology, syntax, and basic reading comprehension. Participants who complete the webinar will receive practical structured language strategies to reinforce foundational reading skills at home, school, or in a distance learning format.

The speaker, Andrew Stetkevich, M.A. (in Education) has 38 years of experience as a K-12 educator in the field of literacy. He recently retired from his position as an ELA/ELD Staff Development Specialist for RUSD. He is also a nationally endorsed Project Read consultant and an active member of the International Dyslexia Association. He has spoken at numerous national and international conferences in the field of literacy, including the British Dyslexia Association and the European Conference on Literacy held in Austria. Additionally, he traveled to Dubai to provide expertise to schools on MTSS, UDL, and Differentiated Instruction. Mr. Stetkevich was honored to be published in the British Journal, Dyslexia Review. He has taught graduate level courses at both CBU and the UCR Extension programs.
