July 15, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
freeOnline Webinar Monday July 15 at 6:00 pm (PST)
This session explores some of the various reasons why students develop a reluctance to express themselves in writing, including dyslexia (which is not just a reading disorder) and the issue of dysgraphia. The reasons will be explored in detail and will include poor pencil grip, handwriting struggles, lack of automaticity, weak background preparation, poor vocabulary, lack of interest in subject matter, spelling, and organizational issues. A variety of practical strategies for reversing this reluctance will be described and clarified.
The speaker is Regina Richards, M.A. and BCET (Board-Certified Educational Therapist). She is former director of Big Springs School, specializing in multidisciplinary programs for language learning disabilities. She teaches regularly at UCR Extension programs and has authored a variety of books.
